Mabel, Mollie and Rupert

Coming up are some more baby name pictures including the 'Mabel' I recently made. I was soooooooooooo tempted to keep hold of it as I've never made a picture for my Mabel. Well actually that's not completely true. The first ever fabric picture I made was an 'M' for Mabel. I did it completely free hand with no stencils. It's pretty bad and the font is all wrong, I actually copied it from a mug that we have with an 'M' on it. Here it is below.

'M' is for Mabel - 1940's fabric USA

I love the fabric but I only ever had a tiny piece of it. I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for something similar.

Here are the baby names, 'Mabel' 'Mollie' and 'Rupert' all three together sound like a children's book, 'Mabel, Mollie and Rupert Go on an Adventure' oh how I'd love to illustrate a children's book. I wonder if I could make one out of fabric cut outs? A bit like those touchy feely type kids books. Hmmmmm could be a cool project. I actually know a talented girl who is writing a kids books at the moment. Fingers crossed I get to help out a bit with the illustrations! (hint hint)

With this last one I really wanted to find a fabric a bit like Rupert The Bear's trousers. This is the nearest I could get and I think it works really well for a boy.

Bison

I love it when someone comes to me with an unusual picture request! and I think this one has to be up there with 'The Beetle' I made. I was asked to make a Bison, as in a Buffalo type animal out of my vintage fabric. At first I was a little nervous as I'd never attempted to make something like that and I wondered If indeed it was possible to make such a thing out of fabric. Luckily the Bison in question forms part of a company logo and someone wanted to make a picture of it to give the company owner as a wedding gift. (what a cool idea)So I was given the logo to copy. I'm very excited as this could open up a whole new area of commissions for me. So if you have a cool company logo that you'd like made out of vintage fabric and framed, I'm your woman!

 'Bison' - Vintage Liberty fabric

Mr & Mrs

Here's a lovely new Wedding Commission that I've just finished making. It's another 'Mr & Mrs' picture made of a mix of vintage fabrics. I think at least one of the fabrics used is vintage Liberty print (Oh I do love a nice Liberty print)

I really struggled to get this picture made as Mabel decided to throw a wobbly every time I had childcare so I could never escape for long enough to complete it. What I thought was the terrible two's was more a case of double-molar-trouble as she has sprouted two new teeth. The poor thing must have been in agony, plus she got an ear infection on top so I guess it wasn't her fault. It's so hard as I only get one day a week to make my little pictures.

I've also been busy making 3 new baby name pictures and guess what? one was for a new baby called Mabel! When I'd finished the 'Mabel' I so wanted to keep it for my Mabel but I know it is going to a lovely home, more about the 'Mabel' and the 'Mollie' and the 'Rupert' soon...

Forget-Me-Not

Sorry that I've been a bit quiet of late. Things have been a bit wobbly at home. I wasn't sure if I wanted to share with you what's been going on but I feel I should as it's very much a part of me now.

We had some sad news at Easter, we thought there was going to be a new Beanie to share our lives with. In fact the baby became known as 'Button' so it was going to be Beanie and Bon and Button but sadly little Button didn't make it... we found out at the 3 month scan. All very very shocking and sad but it just wasn't meant to be.

So in honor of little Button I'd like to share a photo of some Forget-Me-Nots. They were from Mabel's Great Grandmother's garden  and my Mother in law gave them to me so that I would never forget. If I shake the seeds in our garden they will come back year after year.

To my little Button, we will never ever forget you x
